About how much does it cost to feed a BTS?

SnakeFreak Jan 03, 2006 10:45 PM

I'd like to get a Northern Blue Tonque, and I'm curious about how much it cost to feed one. The meat portion of the diet would be mostly gound beef and turkey, with some mealworms and the occasional mouse mixed in. Can somebody give me an estimate of how much it would cost per month to feed one? Thanks for any help you can give me.

i hav a blue tongue skink...and it all depends on what you feed it. I know some skinks are picky eatters, while others are not. my skink is very picky and wont eat alot of things. But i know that they all love crickets which is like five bucks and usualy last like a week and a half. You can also feed it house hold stuff so u dont ahve to buy anything more( boiled eggs, lettuce(but not all skinks like the same things)

The BTS i care for doesn't like crickets and totally ignors them. I mainly feed him canned large grasshoppers. He LOVES them and will come out and take them right from my hand. He will also eat canned snails. Unfortunately canned foods like this are expensive with the large cans costing about $10 bucks. He eats about 2-3 large grasshoppers once a day to every other day. The can has maybe 25 grasshoppers, maybe. I try and offer him spring mix lettus be he doesn't seem too fussed about it. You have to be careful what lettuses you offer because things like iceberg or head lettus has no nurtitional value, as well as cucumber and cellery. Plus things like spinich and broccolli have calcium blocking agents.
