THISDUDE Jan 04, 2006 12:24 AM

I Have a female I have been cooling since Nov, in this time she had been bred 2 times 3 days consecutive about 3 weeks agart. she started out weight 1600 grams and is now 2000 grams. she had shed just be i started cooling her and is now starting her second shed, is this second shed the pre lay shed or do they shed multiple times during the breeding season.

Thanks

I doubt it. It's still a bit early for your case. And yes, they continue to shed during breeding season. Did you notice ovulation? That would come before the prelay shed. Also, sometimes they skip the pre-lay shed.

To be honest i installed some new heat rope on my racks and had some issues and i was afraid i may have kicked her into ovulation too soon. she looks a lil thick on the back end but i didnt observe any crazy swelling etc.

I am currently running my males through my females, would u say once every 3-4 weeks is enough per female as long as i see some good lockups during their pairing?

The more i read these forums the more paranoid i become that my females will not become gravid lol

Thanks

ps is the weight gain a sign she is on her way? almost 400 grams since nov.

I don't think, IMHO, we can influence ovulation much. It's a long process that starts much earlier in the year.

Personally, I put my males in for 3 days, out for 2 and keep this up until the end of March or April.

Just relax. Most will not ovulate for at least a few more months.

Could be. But it could also mean she's feeding well.
