Hi Kerby, hows it going? Whats the difference with this snake and an Aztec calking? Sorry but I have a lot of catching up to do with all these new names. FR

Hope you had a safe holiday season. Unfortunately this time of the year at work we were busy.

Not counting recessive genes in cal kings (albino, lavender, etc...) there are 3 types of cal kings: banded, striped and aberrant. Us humans have this desire to "label" everything....really everything.

The aberrant cal king is the worse as we are trying to name every possible type that we produce. IMO the Aztec cal king has to have a black stripe (reverse stripe) with the jagged patterns on the side. We (herpers) are so hungry for labels that we s-t-r-e-t-c-h these labels at times. I have definitely been guilty of that in the past. I find myself more these days of calling cal kings aberrant if they don't fit an accepted name. When looking through the k-snake classifieds I find some interesting names for cals; like "convict" kings when in fact they look just like a banded LOL Nothing like MARKETING a normal banded!

Happy new year Kerby, that is one cool king. I do understand about all the names. I think a new name becomes valid if the new type produces pure. That is all its offspring are type as the parents.

I have been very busy too and for some reason, I was placed in time out on KS. hahahahahahaha Cheers FR
