Any advice is appreciated
Blaptica Dubia, They are easy to maintain, and are very hardy, they don't even smell bad, but they are still creepy.
I from my limited experience belive lobster roaches are pretty darn easy.. I havn't even had my colony for a month now and they have easily doubled the number produced
I am very inpressed

Rule out the lobsters on the facts that 1) they climb and 2) they are very fast.
I think crickets can smell as bad as mice.
I have had the best luck with Eublaberus prosticus (Orange Head) roaches but they do give off a defensive odor when you are sorting and cleaning them that some people can't stand. They reproduce quickly though and are pretty easy to catch.
My favorite roach is the Blaptica dubia (Orange Spot). They breed a bit slower than the orange heads but seem to be a bit softer bodied. They don't have any smell and are easy to sex.

I have a colony of Blaberus Discoidalis', they don't climb, jump, or smell. I highly recommend them. Here are a couple of great sites with good information on different species of roaches:

I second the discoids, easy in all aspects (even I have a colony well on it's way to be self sustainable) they are a good feeder size as well.
Thanks everyone, i'll go with blaptica dubia. Didn't know lobster roaches were fast and climb. I hate fast bugs. and stinky bugs i hate too. Just gotta ask these things before you get pets.
i used to breed Hissing Roaches for my GF's savanah long ago.
they were slow enough to hold, i never found em climbing on the tank, coulden't fly, and only needed a sliced cucumber or other fruit/vegi once a week to eat and get moisture from.
plus they make that neat hissing noise when you pick em up
Blaptica dubia- By far the most popular roach. very easy to keep and breed. They are one of the slower moving and easy to handle species. Perfect for every insect eating reptile.
Blaberus discoids - Also popular and easy to keep and breed. These guys are a little faster but animals like dragons love to chase them done.
Eublaberus prosticus - Although many people say they smell it is not that bad, they breed great, and many reptiles love them.
Blatta lateralis - Very similiar to crickets these roaches breed very fast and are easy to keep. This is a fast moving species.
These are just a few of the many species out there. I have more info under Help & Support
