Is My BP too Fat?

CodyNolen Jan 04, 2006 04:28 PM

I don't have a scale to weigh her. I'll probably get one this summer, but from the pic does it look like the right build?

I feed her a medium rat once every two weeks. I'm terrified of over feeding. I think the feed schedule I have now is good, but I don't have the knowledge and experience alot of you have. So thanks for replies in advance.

Looks good to me. No worries.. If anything, she may be a little skinny, but it's hard to tell from the pic and how long she is in proportion to her body.

From the looks of it IMHO, No. I personally have fed (and still do) my adult BPs a medium rat once every 5 -7 days and have never had a problem with them being overweight. To me I would say your snake is under fed. Even my babies and juvies are fed on a 5-7 day schedule.
Good luck and I say pick up on the feeding.

She is nearly 3 feet long.

I'd say she likes about 3 - 4 inchs.

Thanks for the advice.

As long as your snake has good muscle tone she is fine, your ball python should not be a pudgy ball of butter. I dont know if you are planning on breeding her either, but how you have been feeding her is fine.
