Suprise in the clutch....not Anery....Miami? Pics

JM Jul 24, 2003 05:16 PM

Finally, the eggs are almost all hatched. Only two left to hatch, and they have pipped and I can see thier little faces! So, Mom of this Clutch was an Amel, and Dad was a Milksnake Phase (Miami). Here is a pic of Mom and Dad~

I was expecting normals from this pair, but I guess my male must be het Amel as I wound up with approx half Amels (10 Amels, 9 of the little brown/black babies)

But these little brown/black babies I'm not too sure about. They are not Anery, the saddles appear to be solid dark black, on a grey back ground........but there is just the slightest red in between the saddles and the banding on the faces look pretty brown....(Best pic I could get of that)

I would think they were normals, but I have onle little baby from another clutch that I think is a "Normal" and it is definatly a different color than these babies (This baby is from a Hypomelanistic Okeetee by Amel~ different Amel than the larger clutch)

So what do y'all with experinece think? Are the black/brown babies "Normals" or "Miami" like dad? If they are "Normals" then is the little red baby from the other clutch a Hypo like it's mother?

And aren't they cute! This is SO much fun!

No offense, but the pics are too blurry and dark to tell anything from them. Sorry.

"Mice. And rats. If that bothers you, I can call them 'cows' instead."

No offense taken, I am not easily offended!

I'll just take some more pics later. I have a pretty poor digi cam, but odds are with me, if I keep snapping off the pics I will eventually get a good one! And it's not like I have to pay to develop film!

Thanks anyway.

I like your miami corn...who/where did ya get it! If I ever get a miami phase, I would want one just like that...it has nice contrast! The babies look normal, but its hard to tell for sure...If you take more pics, shoot another one of the parents!

Thanks for the compliments on them! The male is an 01' Milk Snake Phase (Miami) from [bleep]. (The name I just typed in probably came up as BLEEP because of a spat between the owner of [bleep] and the owner of Kingsnake. If you don't know who the BLEEP refers to, e-mail me and I will give you the info. Be sure to put something about Corn snakes in the subject line or I will deleat messages from unknown parties)

The Female is an 00" Amelanistic I purchased from "Serpents Den".

I'm going to try for better pics of the babies again later today or tomarrow, but right now I've got to feed all the adult snakes!
