Argentine Boas are awesome, as babies they can be jumpy, but my adults are tame and easy to handle. I still have a female that will hiss when you hold her but she has never tried to bite or strike out, she's about 8 yrs old. I like my Argentines.

I loooove mine!

Argentines are great!

They're stunning animals and are very underrated.

Actually, you're gonna see alot coming our way with Argentines over the next few years...

I had an 03 pair of Argentines that I recently traded and will surely one day regret.

Mine were always very docile but had voracious feeding habits. They have a reputation for being nasty due to an article about them a few years back in reptiles magazine but I never had any problems handling mine.

One drawback to Argentine boas....they get large. I don't mind large snakes but I prefer snakes that remain under 6 ft....mostly for caging purposes.

Argentines are amazing snakes, esp. for educational value...given their endangered status...which is a shame but some good can come from owning them and sharing them with others, whether through showing off pics or teaching others about them in-person.

Not to get into a morph debate or anything...but I've seen some people occassionally sell ArgentineXColombian crosses as pure Argentines and they're not. Its a shame...be careful when shopping for some. Not to say that some of the Argentine morphs out there aren't cool...but I always thought that when they're mixed with other boa species, it takes some special away from the BCO's

I'd love to get back into them when Tpositives come down in price a little.

BTW, those are awesome Joe......is that last pic a salmon boa? or something new?

I dont mind getting bit by youngsters but not real fond of the idea if the boa is 12ft long..Would this kind of boa eventually tame down enough for children to handle? Because if not then I might have to rethink things....Thanks

The babies are are almost always defensive. They hiss, huff, and strike at just about anything. However, with a just a few weeks of gentle, regular handling they become as docile as bci. I've never seen a 12ft argentine. I'm not saying they don't exist, but my biggest female is about 9ft, 40 pounds.

I love my adult female, she's one of the most interestingly patterned boas I own. She's a rescue, has what looks to be a cigarette burn on her nose, and was supposedly in a garage for 8 months with no heat, but she's tamer than my sonorans!
