Hi all, newbie here....

kellywood23 Jan 04, 2006 07:36 PM

Hi everyone,

I just got my first collared lizard today. A female that is roughly 3 months of age. I guess you can say she is standared color, sort of greyish.

Anyways, I have done research on them, but still have a few questions. Are they like Bearded dragons to where they will eat both crickets and veggies?

Could I provide her with some bearded dragon pellets once in awhile also?

Thank you for your time.

Most of the people here haven't had much luck with feeding them greens. But they like insects and small vertabrits. The rest of the people here should be able to answer any other questions you have. We do like to see pictures.

Congratulations on your new buddy, they are really NOT into the same things beardies like salads or pellet foods (although you can always try!
My beardie did love superworms as do my collareds.

Collareds LOVE BUGS... and MORE BUGS... crickets, moths superworms, waxies, butterworms, spiders, grasshoppers, and in nature, small lizards

We need a pic , gotta love those lizard pics!

Thank you both for the friendly welcome. Feeding bugs will not be a problem, though small lizards will be. LOL I would rather keep a "feeder" lizard as a pet then feed it. HaHa!

Has anyone noticed weather the collareds like to have a cage mate or do they do better by themselves?

Thanks again for the wonderful welcome. I will try to get pictures of "Chloe" this afternoon.

I agree, my lizards will never have LIZARDS on their plate either , ever....

As far as do collareds like a cage mate, I think they do well with a TUB-FULL of friends, hehehehehe LOL

Living alone is fine, but 2 female buddies, OR a pair or trio (One male only) seem to be happy together in my opinion.

Be waiting for that pic of your girl

Just wanted to say Hi to the other newbie in the group! It sounds like you at least have some experience. I haven't had a lizard since I was like 5. Good luck! Everyone here is really great and informative!
