Question for those that breed

phiber_optikx Jan 05, 2006 12:45 AM

I have heard that if you hose 2 snakes in the same cage that there is a smaller chance they will succesfully breed. I do not house my snakes together but their tanks are less than an inch apart. They are in 10 gallons and am sure they see each other on occasion. Could this affect my breeding plans? They are not mature and will not be untill 07. By then they will be in different cages but I am sure they could still smell one another. Any precautions I should take? Also I never got an answer to a question I asked a while back. Can anyone provide statistics for clutch size and hatch rate differences in brumated vs. non brumated?

You shouldn't have any problems. Many people, including myself, use rack systems - the fact that the snakes live near each other will not hinder their breeding. Generally male corns react the most when they actually come in contact with a female - not when they see one.
