Chlorhexadine Diacetate Solution

rb3067 Jan 05, 2006 03:55 PM

I am considering starting to use Chlorhexadine Diacetate solution to disinfect my herp cages but I have no prior experience with this product. I have seen it offered for sale on some herp sites and they state it is "safe" to use. I would appreciate hearing about your personal experiences with this product regarding it's safety, effectiveness and proper amount of straight chlorhexadine per gallon of water.

Thanks,

Rich Banks.

The C.acetate solution is more concentrate than the gluconate, but otherwise still a safe product. Follow the dilution instructions on the label.

What were you using before? Why considering the change? In any case, disinfectants are more appropriate for quarantine cages, and used less for day to day cleaning. In all circumstances, any cleanser should be rinsed well.
