Thought I'd share this awesome discovery...

Haven't posted in forever and a day... which is good, no problems!

I found this amazing Cuban Tree Frog at school today. I'm aware that you're supposed to kill them when found, but I didn't. I couldn't. Look at her! Some people I know who run a pet store have made "Happy" their new little mascot... For all we know, some kid might have tried to pick her up and put a firecracker in her mouth.

She couldn't have been born at my school, either... No still water sources. Maybe she took the bus?

Happy, the Cuban Tree Frog.

FYI, if she doesn't take well to captivity, she'll be released, no worries!

Why are you supposed to kill them? Do you live in an area where they are introduced?

Good job on saving it, but do not release it if it does not do well in captivity. MAKE DO WELL!!! lol
That is the whole reason you collected it, right? Rereleasing her won't help anything.

Yes, we live in Florida, and the Cuban Tree Frog is invasive and eats our wildlife. So, when you find one, you're supposed to use toothache medicine to put them to sleep, then freeze them and notify fish and wildlife. But they're everywhere, so it's understandable why no one does... they'd be doing it 24/7. Shame, really. They make awesome pets, real hardy.

I just found out yesterday that Happy is doing very well- she is eating, soaking in the water, and hopping around! Still can't get over how big she is!
