I think there is something wrong with my snapper

aquick Jan 05, 2006 07:31 PM

I have a common snapper that is very healthy (at least outwardly) but I have noticed something--she appears to be small for her age--she is going to be three in about a month and only measures about 6 or 7" across the carapace, which seems to be quite small for her age--I feed her well (reptomin, beef, dog food, fish, pinky mice, occasionally small frogs/tadpoles)and like I said she appears healthy, so is there any reason to worry?

Thanks,
Troy

Does she hibernate in the winter? I had a snapper who was only 7 inches when she was 5 years old. I always thought it was because we lived where is was cold most of the year (Michigan) and had only and one growth spurt in the spring.
