I remember now how this same behavior (lackluster stalking, not hungry for days) was demonstrated by my former Cal King, only during summer. He was entering adolescence!
My current Desert Phase won't be a young adult until next spring, officially, but he may be an early starter.
For their first breeding year, particularly for males, it's common for kingsnakes to be quite active, roaming, yet go off feed. They are horny. Situation normal. They tend to grow out of it, and subsequent seasons may not be as dramatic. (Time will tell.)
