I'm in the same situation. I've had mine for three months, and every good sign in their behavior feels good.

I'm with you on that too, everything is still new. I've had mine 2 and a half weeks, and last night there was a "healthy sized poop" in the corner, I was estatic....the rest of my family didn't seem to have the same feeling when I excitedly told them about it...go figure LOL.

I like reading posts about the day to day thrill of BP owning, so keep on posting about sheds and poops, and who's eating what etc. You all are my base for knowledge!

How old/how big is your ball python? I don't know how old mine is. I've had her for almost three months, and I'd guess that she was pretty young when I bought her. I just took her to the vet today for a checkup, and the vet said that she looks great. She's just shed, so her skin is beautiful.

He's supposed to be 2 years old in April. He was captive bred. I got him from a teenage girl who didn't want him anymore. (You actually replied to my first post on here). He's still underweight, but I'm feeding him twice a week, and I think he's putting on some weight. I'm picking up a scale tonight, so I can track his progress. He was having a bad shed when he first came to me, but now he's all shed out, and looks really pretty.

Here's a pic I took this Monday, 2 weeks after getting him

Here is a pic from when he first came to me

I can see/feel a difference in his weight/girth, but I don't know how well it shows in pics.

btw, Stacey is the snake, I'm DeAnne. Nice to meet ya!

i have a male pastel and 2 normal females. the pastel is awesome, so curious and active, and he eats like a horse.... he hit the mouse just now so hard it fell out of the tongs. VERY good eater!

the females on the other hand, im starting to suspect something fishy. the one is a royal pain in the youknow, still cant handle her for all the hissing and striking, and neither will eat or even show interest in eating. iv tried different sizes of mouse, i try heating them, i try leaving them in a paper bag overnight, etc. nothing has worked. had them a couple/3 months and im getting worried. they are still fat though so i think i have a little longer to try stuff. neither are very handleable, neither are active and curious like my pastel. *shrug*

Hi DeAnne,

It's nice to meet you as well. I like the looks of Stacey's cage. I've had a hard time getting my bp cage's humidity to the 60% level, but I'm measuring about two inches off the floor. I may get another gauge and measure lower to see whether there's a strong verticle gradient. I wish you well in getting Stacey's weight up. I was afraid that my bp was on the small side, but the vet said that she's at a good weight for her length. After her latest shed, she seems stronger, so that's a good sign.

i have had bps for almost a year now, and i still get excited by the nuances of owning them. they are so cute and inquisitive.
my youngest poke their heads out whenever they realize i am near their cage, they love to come out and play, and it is still fun to feed them, they love their fuzzies.
this is the best and most rewarding hobby i have ever gotten into.
it is definately true, they are an addiction, my gf keeps on having to try to talk reason into me not to get more bps, which is funny because she got me into them.

bps are in my opinion the best pets i have ever had.( just dont tell my cat, my furniture wont suvive)
