Urgent: Gecko found after six weeks

WiG Jan 06, 2006 07:08 AM

Hi
I just found Lucy, my 1 year old female crestie who went AWOL six weeks ago. She's alive, but very pale and slow moving. I assume that for the most part it's dehydration as they have fat stores but what can i do or give her to restore her energy/ health as quick as possible. 1 water, 2 cgd with crickets (alternated).
thanks in advance
Brian

All I know about cresties I picked up in here. You've got food and water covered. The only thing I might add would be some nice warm. Who knows what kind of temp changes she's gone through. Take care and good luck.

probably get a small amount of pedialyte ( from the grocery store in the baby section)
boosting the electrolytes your gecko is taking in will help it to kick back, and allow it to make more out of the water and food it will be taking in from the CGD.
if your animal will for whatever reason not eat CGD, this is one of the very few times i would ever suggest trying to feed it some peach babyfood, as anything in it's stomache is better than nothing.
i would wait on the crickets until you know it is eating something else, if it won't eat anything else you can try crickets but do not leave them in the cage with the gecko as they may nibble on it.
finally, i would probably keep it in a fairly simple enclosure for a few days, in a relatively low traffic area of your house to help reduce stress.
let us know how it all pans out.

Look up a herp vet and ask them for some advice. It should be free and the worst they can say is continue what you are doing and wait and see.
