There's color variances, from lighter to darker, but other than that, which is personal choice, any BH that you own is a good one

Hello,
Matt Turner's animals are top notch and the red black heads will blow your mind.

"Quality" in Black Head Pythons, as someone said earlier, has more to do with what you want than any inherent superiority. The differences that can be found are size and color.

Since there really is so little known about locality of the animals here in the USA, the commonly used terms Western and Eastern are inaccurate, but can help you figure what you like. "Westerns" don't get as big as "Easterns".

I like how Matt Turner describes them as "Blacks" and "Reds". Both types are beautiful, it's just a matter of preference.

Split Rock has some really cool "hypo" looking animals. Nuyten in Europe has some albinos and rumor has it, theres some that have landed in the USA.

My personal preference is for the "Blacks", but other folks prefer the "Reds", or "Hypos" or whatever.

Go for a good reputable breeder with healthy parent stock and I'm sure you'll be happy with what you get...

Black-heads are phenomenal animals and come in lots of different ground and band colors. Any Black-head is a treasure to behold. Their personalites are really inquistive. Here is one of our holdbacks from the '04 clutch.

Mine went from hatchlings to 7' in a year. I bought one years ago from "The Shed" for the princely sum of $600 (early 80's money), and vowed to get some this time around. I did

I understand he's living in Africa, with 2-3 wives. Not joking.... There seems to be a reason he's not returning...

I remember in the late 70's buying quite a few of what were known then as Liasis childreni from him. They were harder to come by then, and if I recall correctly, the hatchlings were going for 200 to 250 each back then.
