My New Red Phase Southern Hognose

Bayou.Surreal Jul 24, 2003 06:37 PM

Hello All.
Here is one of the newest members of the Bayou.Surreal family! She is a whopper, weighing in at 179gr! She's enormous! I hope to have offspring from her next season. I love Southern Hognose! I've never seen a red phase western that could hold a light to this snake. I enjoy all Heterodons but simus take the cake! -ENJOY!

Thanks,
Paul Bollinger

Did you get her from Kevin Enge? It looks similar to a simus he posted a pic of from Lafayette County, FL. If not, do you know what locality that snake is from?
Very nice!

Chris,
No, I didn't get her from Kevin. Actually, I've yet to meet him. I understand that he shares a passion for simus. I like him already!

As for Locale info, I believe she is from the East coastal area of Florida. I have another female that is hi-red and she's very impressive too, but this one is absolutely stunning! My breeder group consists of 11.16, Next year should be very nice! It'll be interesting to see what the Daytona show turns up as far as Southerns. I'm sure that the popularity of these Hognose will sky rocket though.

Where can I see Kevin's Lafayette County, FL. Southern?

Thanks,
Paul

Yeah your right, I saw the pic Kevin posted and it is the same snake. I missed it before. I've got some more simus that are pretty impressive that I'll post here in a couple days.
I urge anyone that has unique Southerns to post here as there aren't too many people who have them and I'm curious to see what other phases are out there.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I think you'd have a better chance talking me out of one of my kidneys, lol. I should have offspring from her next year, I'm sure that we could swap for something. You've definitely got some nice animals.

Do you have any pics of your southerns?

Paul i think the red phase is also dominant in the Madison County areas......I have seen some from that area and have also heard of that phase being seen there.....Its good to see that you are sparking an interest in the simus....Hopefully it will pay off in the end...if no they are still great snakes to keep
