Not to be mean, but that isn't even questionable. Normal as normal can be.

What gave/gives you the impression that it could be? Just curious.

mrcanada21 Jul 24, 2003 08:30 PM

You can't beat natures original design.

Jeff Favelle Jul 24, 2003 09:05 PM

Not sure where YOU think they were made?

mrcanada21 Jul 25, 2003 08:35 AM

I'm sure you know what I meant but if you don't know I meant I prefer the animals with "normal" markings as they typically occure IN THE WILD not the ones selectively bred by humans. PLEASE spare me the analytical reply since they're far to predictable and boring. Don't mind the spelling either.

Jeff Favelle Jul 25, 2003 11:41 AM

I wasn't "analyzing" your words, don't flatter yourself.

And Pastels weren't selectively bred. They occur just like that in nature. The original pastels were imported. Just like the Mojave, the Platty, the Spider, albinos, pieds, etc etc.

Not sure why you think captivity actually creates genes, because it doesn't.

Must you analyze MY words?

I don't even know you (thats a good thing)yet I can read you like a book.

Jeff Favelle Jul 25, 2003 08:24 PM

Then why keep replying.

Wow, you're one smart cookie.

And I'm flattered that you took the time to read me like a book!

And do you need a tissue? Can't discuss/debate things here anymore without you getting your panties in a knot? That sucks, because debates are usually where people learn the most.

Oh well.

Dont mind Jeff mrcanada21, he seems to like trolling and talkin down to others.

Josh06 Jul 24, 2003 09:32 PM

Morphs were discovered, not invented, just like normals...

Then what distinguishes a pastel from a normal? Ive seen _some_ very bright balls that were obviously pastels but also some "not so bright" that were identified as pastels. Other than "the eye of the beholder" whats makes a pastel or not?

JDP Jul 25, 2003 01:22 PM

I did a real quick check and came across this post as an example (Ive been visiting the forum for years so I know its NOT an isolated incident just the first I found):

http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=92101,93355

Exactly how is this "pastel" different from mine?

krystal19_85 Jul 25, 2003 01:36 PM

Please reread that post, he said he is going to breed that nice HIGH GOLD BALL to his male pastel (not picttured). a pastel is a genetic trait and is EASILY defined from a normal. I will find a good example and post it, if someone dosen't beat me to it.

It says Jungle Pastel? Im assuming thats not the same animal? BTW, the bottom picture of the 84g male is nearly identical to how he looked as a baby.
Oh well, whatever.

krystal19_85 Jul 25, 2003 02:56 PM

Jungle Pastel is the same as a Pastel, just a lazy way of saying it. Pastels also have light eyes and other distinguishing characteristics.

Pastels have kinda a "foggy" color on the crown on their head. They have a pure white, unmarked belly. Their eyes are really light. The black that is outlining the pattern is more defined. Their is more light brown in between the black outline. If you were to see a pastel in person, you could tell the difference easily. The only thing that really makes a pastel look like a normal, is the orange in some lines fades, and as an adult they look more dull. The other characteristics dont change.
