My first crested eggs!!!!!!How do I know they are good?

rhaco1208 Jan 06, 2006 08:19 PM

One of my females layed eggs and the eggs look good and have been "growing" for a while now.Is this a good sign? I keep the humidity up but Im not sure if the little guys can get through the eggshell ?Am I worried for no reason?

if you have had them for more than 2 weeks and they haven't started molding then they are probably good.
i will usually notice a different texture on the eggs if they are bad. only times i've had them not hatch out were due to poor diet of the laying females ( before feeding CGD) and possibly too much moisture in the incubator drowning them. since i've gotten it all straightened out i've had 100% hatch rate though.

Thanks.I would love for these to hatch.Should I be worried about them being able to get out of the eggs?

they do it in the wild, and they do it for everyone else

Some goo began leaking out of one of the eggs this morning. The size of the egg has decreased in size,Whats wrong?

how long have they been incubating for and at what temp.?
what is the humidity in the incubator?
many times right before the egg is going to hatch ( like 1-3 days)
they will " sweat" which is pretty normal.
however if the eggs come in direct contact with water, or it is too humid sometimes the gecko will drown inside the egg.

Around 70 days .After the goo has come out,the egg is half the size that is was. They are incubating at 70-75 degrees and I regularly mist to keep the substrate moist that they are laying in.

my first 6-8 eggs that i had i drown because i sprayed them directly. if you have sprayed your eggs directly then they might not hatch out.
i would let them set for atleast 80-90 days before you do anything with them like cut them open.
i would wait until they cave in, or start molding before i would open them.
