Baby Mali

Cotton Jan 07, 2006 12:31 AM

I'm tempted by baby Mali's. I see them where ever I go. What's the minimum size for a hatchling to say couple month old. Just asking. A length/width measurement is much better then a gallon one.

Well if your asking about enclosure size, then a forty breeder (36x18x18) will get you started. I,m using a tank that size right now. Unfortunally it on the small side for a grown mali (15inch new christmas present, had to place him in one of my babies tanks and place the baby in a 40 breeder), plus I find it much more difficult to get a good temp. gradient. Larger enclosures are easier to get a good gradient with.

Bigger is better 48x24x what height you want.

The reason I asked is it would be a stop gap measure. I'd then upgrade to a bigger size in a month or two and upgrade my geckos into the "small Uro" enclosure.

Well the forty breader has a sliding top, don't know if that's aceptable for geckos or not ( No experince with them). But it would get you by for a while ( 8 to 10 inch STL). Just my thoughts, others may have a differant opinion on this.
Anyways hope this as been of some help to you.
