Florida, early May...

Hello, I am from New England so I am hoping someone can suggest how the herping will be around the Jacksonville area at the beginning of May... Is it too warm by then for daytime looking? Are the reptiles still active from Spring? I don't know anything about Florida so any advice is appreciated!! we may also head north to the southern part of Georgia too. Thanks! -Milt

Last time I went in late April, the herping was pretty good around that time. We caught a whole bunch road herping at night, and a few things during the day(racers, water snakes, and 1 king) Your best bet would be looking for stuff basking in the morning, flipping junk mid-dayish and road herping at night. Hope this helps

southern hogs start ot breed and move alot on the first hot humid morning in may and pinesnakes start moving too but more mid day not morning, also coachwhips and eastern diamond backs and all the ratsnakes and kingsnakes should be on the move by then. road huntin for one hour before sunset till an hour after if the temps are in the 70's will be productive too!
