What are the chances this would happen......

I ordered a pair of colombians and they came in bigger than I was expecting. They were born in 2001 and the male is probably about 5.5 feet long and the female is about 6.5 feet long and they look great. I figure it is to late now to try and rush the cooling periods and all but I have a thought. After I feed them a couple of meals I thought of just letting the male roam around the female's cage for a little while i supervise. If they mate then they mate and if they don't then they don't. I just was wondering what other people thought and if they have had snakes mate in an instance like this.

They seem to mate whenever the female is ready, nothing say that isn't right now but her, and if she's producing follicles.
