day 74 and counting

carlo Jul 24, 2003 07:37 PM

It's been 74 days now and none of my corn eggs has hatch yet instead I notice tiny white worms crawling around the eggs and some kind of small bugs crawling /flying around the eggs.I got them in an hovabator at 82-84 deg F.I'm concern that these tiny worm thing might damage the eggs, also some of the eggs are turning brown and some are becoming transluscent with a couple of the brown eggs starting to dent the last few days.I'm at a lost on what to do next. This is my first clutch and I got the feeling that I'm losing them.I'm lost, need help on what to do next. Thanks for any info in advance.

I would clean out the substrate that has worms in it and replace it with new. Mine sometimes get worms and flying bugs also. I think it is some sort of fruit flies. I do not think they will hurt the eggs, but I cannot say for sure. As for hatching I wouldn't start worring yet. Some of my eggs take 85 days at about 83 degrees.
