Any advice on helping to handle my collared. Anytime I try to handle him he goes mad and bites me? Any tips?

Any advice on helping to handle my collared. Anytime I try to handle him he goes mad and bites me? Any tips?

I like a lively collared--that means he's probably healthy 
When I handle mine, I never grasp them. I just put my hand down in front of them and they usually climb on. If not, then I ease a finger or two between their front legs and under their bellies and I lift them that way. Even the flightiest collared lizard is usually calm with such a non-threatening way of lifting him.
