tell me what you think...

Is Dill getting overweight? She sure loves her meals, and her pathos...but I don't want her to get too fat, especially with her bad toes...I wouldn't want to hinder her ability to climb any more than it is already.

Also, when you do your ratio's, do you still believe she's female?

Thanks for everything Brian....

Hi Kim!

Your welcome anytime! I hope all is well with you. Yes, not only do I stand by my assessment that Dill is female, It looks to me you may be a grandma! Based on the time you've had Dill, you'd know by the end of the year. Although she is filled out, the prominance of her spine indicates that she is not overweight.

If this is residual food after feeding, reduce the amount or try feeding every other day.

Excellent shot of Dill. With your permission, I'd like to see it included on the website.

Thanks for Showing the picture, I hope I was of help.

Sincerely,
Brian

Not that you are asking me, but she looks like a she to me, and I agree she looks like she is gravid. I would love to ultrasound her to see if she is gravid, but I don't think you live nearby...
You can ask your vet to look if they have a newer machine that can get through a scaled belly, and still have fine detail. I just confirmed twins in my own Gertie (she is still 2-3 months away), and a singleton in Dan's Thelma. By 3-4 months, you can see a moving baby with a heart beat, but it will be pretty small- a cm or so across the chest.
good luck- you have several months to wait still IF she is actually gravid, but this also means you have plenty of time to prepare a little nursery at the bottom with local heat, food and water (at least this is what I do for the babies- so far my 3 babies have done very well)
cheers, Jess

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for the back-up assessment. Your opinion is always valued.
Kim and I have cooresponded quite a bit which is why she asked my opinion directly-nothing personal.

Holy smokes!!!

That didn't even cross my mind!!! From the very FEW details I got from the pet shop, I had the impression Dill was previously owned by a person (as opposed to a shop)...although, as you know Brian, that story changed many many times before Dill came home with me.

But, for whatever reason, I always assumed she had been alone. So, her being pregnant wasn't anything that even crossed my mind!

Perhaps though that might explain her increasing grouchiness. I just thought it was because she was settling in and claiming her territory as her own.

Well...wouldnt' that be something!! I worry about Dill being alone. If she had a baby, she wouldn't be anymore...and that would be SO wonderful for her!!

And Jess...by all means...jump in any time!!! I look at your enclosure pictures allllll the time...and any advice and/or opinions you have are always welcome!!!

hehehehe...I work in a hospital radiology department...I wonder if I could sweet talk any of the ultrasound techs into scanning Dilly girl for me....
