Boa with RI

Corn22 Jan 08, 2006 06:27 PM

While I was on vacation th caretaker of my snake accidentally reduced the temp of my boa's cage to about 70 deg.F at hot spot. It may have been this temp for a few weeks( it was a long vacation). I have brought the temp back up to about 90 deg F at hot spot. I have noticed liquid in his nostrils but it doesn't seem to be coming out or forming bubbles. Is there anything else I can to do help him while i'm waiting for my vet apponitment?
How much will the vet visit and meds cost? Can I obtain appropriate meds without a vet?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Wow, that petsitter sure screwed you eh?

Seeing a vet asap will save you $ in the long run, trust me. Don't let this sit, but in the immediate meantime, raise the hotspot to 95 or so, and don't have the cool side any colder than say, 83.

As for the cost, I only know Canadian fig's, but from what I"ve heard from other americans, I'd say $100-200 depending how bad it is. That's including any diagnostics the vet suggests, don't skimp on that, or like I said it'll probably cost you (it has already been a few weeks).
As for all your other questions, the answer is no; and I think I've covered the why's above. If not, ask away
