Just wanted to say hey....from a lurker

snowqueen4 Jan 08, 2006 07:38 PM

I am interested in adding a veiled chameleon to my reptile family. This time I'm trying to be really smart about it though, and learn as much as I can first. I've already put Lele's resource site in my favorites. I own beardies and several tortoises, but have much to learn about chameleons. I've already learned so much just by lurking! I just wanted to say thank you and tell you how much I've enjoyed seeing the pictures of your chameleons. I'm thinking the springtime in good old Western NY state might be the best time to find one.

Anyway, thank you, you're great people, and I look forward to learning a great deal from you! (I continue to learn about beardies from you all too! )

Maleea,

Great to have ya' here! You have a very pretty name by the way. Anyways, 'lurking' is a great way to learn about chameleons. An even better way is to ask questions though, so never ever hesitate to ask a question on this forum. The people here are so hospitable and knowledgable!

Again, welcome, and it's great to have ya here!

Hi Maleea,

Glad to see you "came out of lurking" status! As I had said to you (and you can see) we are a friendly bunch

I lurked here for a few months while first researching chams a few years ago and frankly learned mainly from this forum and the first breeder I bought from (my little leaf chams). Although there is always some turnover in names and "faces" here, there are some die-hards who have stuck it out through joy, frustration, sadness, hatchlings, losing a loved friend, jokes, razzing, an occasional disagreement - and a lot of laughs!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks - she was very photogenic. I really need to put a little album together and upload somewhere. When I was taking a watercolor class I used this photo for one of my first attempts. I do still miss her, but her many expressions surely make me smile. Did you see the ones that anson sent me when she first offered her to me? How could I say no!?!?

and then there is her deep conversation with a silkworm

Lele, Luna is the reason I'm attracted to the chameleons. I first saw her picture on the bearded board. I just adore the picture with the silkworm. That is just too cute.

I just wanted you to know that Luna was an inspiration!

I think she was an inspiration to many of those who "knew" her. My vet had tears in his eyes when I brought her in (she died on the way there) and when I told the woman at the feed store, who accepts my live feeders (and also had Darwin and Luna delivered there!) got all weepy when I told her - she had never even met her!

The silkworm pics are hysterical. If you go to the bottom of this article (below) you will see the trio of pics and how the encounter went.

I've always wished they were clearer. I do now have photoshop so I can see what I can do to fix them up a bit. She was a funny girl!
