Constipated corn snake

machinegun Jan 08, 2006 10:53 PM

I believe that my corn snake may be constipated. My snake has not defecated in about two weeks after his last meal. Normally he defecates a few days to a week after feeding. Is this sometimes normal for corn snakes to take this long to defecate in the winter months? Is their anything that I can due to get my snake to defecate?

Thanks

Give him a nice warm bath....NOT hot. Should loosen up his tract.

I would give it a little more time. Sometimes if the snakes are a little cooler than normal, it slows down the digestion. Soaking in a tub or sink with warm water with just enough water always works for me on lizards, so I would think the logic to be the same with snakes.

I would check the enclosure very thoroughly to be sure the little guy didn't leave it in an unexpected place.

Once, I thought mine was constipated and it turned out she had defecated in the folds of cardboard closing the end of one of her enclosures. Now she likes to poop behind the thermometer and it sometimes takes me days to find it.

Well my Corn snake is no longer constipated the soaking in warm water did the trick. Thanks for all the suggestions.
