earthworm type worms (bloodworms,nightcrawlers,earthworms) food item?

can chameleons be fed these kind of worms as a sporadic supplement to there diet or would that be a nono? and if yes, any experiece on the subject would be much appreciated. im just askin a few last questions about care as I will be aquiring my first chameleons (1.1 sambava panthers) within the next several weeks. thx -ryan

These are very dirty feeders, and not recommended as feeders for chameleons. Hope this helps!

Very few chams bother to eat them. They are hard for them to pick up by tongue, they have a lot of not-so-great stuff in their guts, some are foul tasting.

Ryan,
We tried redworms with our reptiles. We got tubs and made special diets for them - pampered the heck out of them.

We found that the chams weren't really interested. Of the few that tried to eat the worms, there were mixed results. It was soon discovered that the worm could curl around the face of the cham, and they didn't appreciate that!!

The beardies and some geckos loved them though...
We gave the idea up after a few months, fed a lot off and let the rest of the worms go in the veggie garden.
