Xraying a leo - will it work???

astroturf Jan 09, 2006 01:43 AM

Hello

My 12 yr old Leopard gecko has a swollen front right forearm (1 week now), and I am planning a vet visit in the next couple days as the swelling is not decreasing.

Perhaps a silly question, but will an exray machine be able to 'zoom in' enough to see his small bones? (Im looking for breakage, fractures, or dislocation)

Just as a note, he is using his leg normally, is eating with the same enthuasism, and I could not feel a break (I've done this before in birds - doesnt mean there isnt one, just means i didn't find an obvious one).

If any one has any other ideas as to why his leg would swell up, im all ears... (He does eat vitamin supplemented food, is over 12 years of age, and is very clumsy... the swelling is largest in the area by the wrist) and his hand is swelled up also, but only to a small degree)

And its not stuck shed!

Thank you for any feedback, I can also be reached at astroturf@cheerful.com

Happy new year!

Yes they can be xrayed. I was just reading a post in another forum from last year about xraying gecko in a study about tail kinks.
