Nose plugs

styx Jan 09, 2006 11:58 AM

My Saharan Uromastyx constantly has nose plugs. We got it for Christmas from "Santa" and the pet store owner didn't tell us much about raising it. We are doing as much research as possible to learn how to take care of it. We love it so much! But, he constantly has white, crusty "things" at his nostrils. We can't find anything on the internet about it. We called the pet store (national chain) and were told to look it up on the internet--they knew nothing. Please, if anyone knows what is causing the nose plugs, please let me know--and what to do to stop them in the future.

Blessings!

From the Kingsnake.com caresheet for uromastyx:

Crusty deposits around the nostrils are normal and result from excretion of salt from the body.

I had a chuckwalla that did the same thing.

I think that is where that quote came from. It is full of really good info your new family member will thank you for knowing!
