i plan on pickup up my little veiled this weekend and need help on how to make a temporary carrier for him. he'll only be in the carrier for about an hour or so.

Depends on size, really. For smaller chameleons on short trips, you could use a deli cup with a semi-moist paper towel inserted. This will give hime something to cling to on the way home.
I've also seen larger chameleons shipped in lunch bags with a dry paper towel. You could also use this method if you're only transporting for an hour or so.

Either than or a cardboard box with something to grab inside like a twig or moist paper towel. Don't use a terry cloth towel as their claws can get snagged in the fabric. The dark box will keep it calm and it may snooze the trip away.
