gravid female veiled

veiledbrian Jan 10, 2006 09:17 AM

My female is now on her 4th day of digging. she has dug three holes and refilled 2. I'm beginning to get worried. My last female laid her eggs within 2 days of digging. I have heard of people removing the chameleon and placing it in some form of laying cage. I have the box in her cage now. Would it benefit me/her at all to remove her and the laying tub and placing a screen or a climbless wall around it with a light etc?

At this point I would think moving her again would only make it worse, no? If shes restless, I have heard people putting brown towels drapped over almost all the cage, to minimise all view.

I've done that already..on the second day of digging. I've got a towel, brown, covering the entire cage. I've got a heat bulb on the laying tub. And the sand is moist enough, it holds when shes digging....Before she was bred, she was always very jumpy and easily stressed. I expected more difficulty from her than my previous female....I just didnt expect it to take this long.
