Whitering Away

Die_prophezeiung Jan 10, 2006 10:48 AM

Ive had my beared dragon for about 3 months, i did buy him with another dragon also. They raced in size until about a month ago when it just stoped eating.for the last month i have been force feeding him and have had him(guess) on 2 diffrent medications one was baytril(injection) which i used to try and get rid of parasites. that had no effect still motionless and had no energy to eat. I took him to a guy i know named sam who at one point breeded bd's, he gave him an actual human medication for destroying worms. and a week later im not any farther from the day he stoped eating. We've all decided that my basking points are just fine the cage is 6'2'2' so its big and my other guy still eats like there is no tommorow also we eliminated domination out as well. So we have all hit a brick wall (4 of us) because we dont know whats wrong.

Hi
i think the baytril and the human medicine killed the good bacterias .
they need those bacterias to digest there food.
so you need to replace them ,you can buy in human health store achidhophulus capsules for people who need xtra bacterias for better digestion.
also called ,probiotics, typ it in a search engine .
put a capsule in water and give that water for one week.
not same water every day ;P
every time you make new do it for 1 week.
also put him separete in a own home .
i would try to get some repcalmpellets and then give it to him .
with a handblender you can mix them to a nice juice easy to handfeed if he need sme food.
sorry for my english am dutch

today i bought something along the lines of that only its a liquid you put in the water. he did let me (non force) feed him 3 times today so im taking it a good sign.

yeh thats what i was talking about, you put it in water and its liquid. If he ate today and you say 3 times then do not worry, i think everything will be fine now that you made changes to the cage.

That is a very large cage you have. Are your two dragons full adults or babies? Two babies would be lost in a cage that big. I would separate the smaller one, that you are having problems with into a 20 gal tank or similar, with all the proper lighting and heating. Use papertowel for substrate for now. As others mentioned, use a probiotic to help restore beneficial gut flora. If you can't find any or are in a pinch, use some non fat/sugar free fruit yogurt and offer him that. Most dragons will just lick it off your finger or a spoon.

Some gateraid can help as well, especially if your dragon is getting dehyrated from not eating or drinking at all.

Offer some choicer food morsals, bananas, peach, silkworms (of the appropriate size, about 1.5 x the space between the dragon's eyes, though for larger dragons, they can handle full sized silkworms that break this rule, due to their soft bodies. Waxworms and freshly molted superworms can be offered as well.

my dragons are about 5 months old, ones 12 inches and the other is 8.5 so their not quite "babies" also my cage is one sided. everything is on one side and they only leave that one side to chase crickets or poop.
