When should I start to worry that my boa hasn't shed yet?

drasticplastic Jan 10, 2006 11:53 AM

I've had my anery for about 2 months now, he's eating great, going to the bathroom like he should...just no shed. The temps and humidity are good. My other boas and balls have shed at about the same time these past few months. I know two months isn't really a long time, but for a baby I think he should have by now.

If his meals haven't been that big, and if he hasn't really grown much, there wouldn't be the need to shed.

Not shedding becomes a problem when and if the animal has the shed stuck on him... meaning, he needed to shed, just couldn't.

The more this is left untreated, and the more it is allowed to continue, the more dangerous it can become It can become harder and harder to remove completely and especially to get it to feed well while in this condition.

Keep the conditions good, and al long as he is healthy, he will shed when he is ready. When you see the eyes get blue, mist him down a bit, and/or the cage. When you see the eyes clear up, he should shed within the next 3 days.

Best wishes.. -Joe
