Hello all,
I pop into this forum every once in a blue moon and can't recall any conversations (at least recently) on this topic. I thought I would get your thoughts on the best way to handle issues pertaining to Animal "Rights" extremists groups, etc. I am sure that some of you are aware that AR groups are responsible for introducing some legislation in various states to conrol the ownership of exotic animals. Now, I am sure that there are also going to be mixed feelings pertaining to..."well..I think this, this, this and that should be allowed to be kept, but these and these should not." However, if any of us want to maintain our abilities to keep the animals that you like to keep, then perhaps it would be smarter to ban together and fight it together. However, that's aside from the main topic.
I guess what I am talking about here, is how to we try to combat these organizations? They have more money than they deserve, a larger number of members than any herpetological society, and they take things to extremes starting from simple lobbying to threatening other organizations and burning down their buildings. The facts are there, but what do we do about it? Some of these organizations have already been "termed" as domestic terrorists by the FBI. These groups appear that they will stop at NOTHING to reach their end goals. However, our state governments, etc. still are willing to listen to their "reasoning".
What do you guys think would be the best solution here? How do you guys feel we should combat these organizations and try to get the "truth" (if we want to call it that) out there? Perhaps we should gather as much information that can be proven and mass mail it to legislators, etc about these groups to show how their sick agenda is playing out? Any ideas, suggestions?
Just thought I would get your opinions,
Chris
