Piebald Reticulated Python!!

MikeWilbanks Jan 10, 2006 01:03 PM

Two months ago Bob Clark and I flew to Miami to look at this snake when it was imported. I was stunned when I first laid eyes on him. The normal pattern is completely replaced with black and gold speckles on a gun metal gray/blue background. The belly is completely pied white and there are various pied white patches on the body of the snake. The eyes are a light blue color and the tongue is pale pink.

I have not taken any photos prior to today because I wanted to give him an opportunity to settle in, then he started breeding and we didn't want to disturb him. He is very picky about his girls and only seems interested in a few. A couple of the girls that he is interested in, he has bred multiple times and things look promising. So, we hope to know a little more about his genetics this year.

Finally a real piebald retic, I was so sick of seeing calicos called piebalds. Good luck you guys, that's an incredible animal!

I've never been much impressed with piebald snakes. They just look like they have a problem (like old burns or scars)...

But that's a handsome critter! Good luck!
