STRANGE CHIN BLOTCHES- Update

chamcham505 Jan 10, 2006 08:29 PM

Thanks so much for your concern and replies everyone! It has been of TREMENDOUS Help, especially the posting of the pics, and I have come to the conclusion that a butterworm gave him a nasty nip on the way down! (Butterworms can supprisingly pack a wallop.) If not that, I'm not too worried...Most of his color has returned, and it looks far better. Plus, he is eating and drinking just fine, and being his usual self, so thanks agian guys!

I was almost going ask about the butter worms since I feed them out regularly to my veiled as well (as mentioned he had the dark coloration in the lower jaw as well).

I don’t necessarily agree with you that it was the worm for sure, but it was a thought that I was playing around with. It could also have been some reaction to the worm’s “juice”. Anyone who keeps these knows how corrosive their juices are especially after they die. I’ve had some dead butter worms eat through plastic plant pots and critter containers. So it was a theory of mine that on the occasion a butter worm could cause some reaction to the chams skin. Totally out there, but just an idea.

A bite did that? Must have been a massive butterworm. After what Im told about Hornworms, sure, but that would be quite the bite. I know that butterworms demolish wood... just take a look at the burrows in my wood cages, but the mouths look more like borers than chunk biters.

Anyways, glad to see its healing up! No if my female would just do it! Otherise im going to have to dub her, Two Face.
