I was just wondering....WILL HE EVER TAME DOWN????? He has tamed quite a bit and now and then he even is conciderate enough not to musk or nip me. But for the most part he is still deathly afraid of me. Is this usual mbk behavior? Should I ever expect him to tame down? I am being patient with him but if I wanted feces thrown at my face I would have bought a monkey

It will just take time. It sounds like you are making progress already if he stoped musking you. My MBK is still a baby as well and is not too friendly. But then again, my albino was the same way and is calm now, as a sub adult.

I said SOMETIMES he doesn't musk/bite me I think what makes me nervous about him is the fact that he and I both know he is out to get me On feeding day (even after washing my hands) I lift the lid off his tank and he literally comes out of his cage and after my hand from several feet away. now that is a feeding response!

I've kept a number of MBK, most were the mellowest animals out there. Just my opinion, but if you are looking for a mellow one(which most are) I would consider writing this one off and picking up a few from somewhere and after keeping them for a while getting rid of the others and keeping the one(s) that are really what you are looking for. MOST are very mellow although it is understandable for very small one to be a bit nervous. They are all individuals but you seem to have gotten one thats not the norm. Good luck.

I have been talking to some local breeders about a trade for a corn or ratsnake. But unfortunately everyone is fresh out. So it looks like I will have him until spring. He is cute when he's trying to rip my face off though....j/k

If you hold it a little each day, it will probably calm down by spring. I would give that a shot before "geting rid of it". Give it some time. It will get better. Allot of baby snakes start out this way. Derek
