A strange question

WanderingLost Jan 11, 2006 09:21 AM

hey guys, I have had bearded dragons for a while now and i REALLY enjoy them. They are the first herp I have had that REALLY has a personality, and we seem to bond pretty well. I was wondering if anyone has had this experiance with any other type of reptile. If so I would like to know.
thanks,
Dustin

I have 3 herps right now a beardy, a ball python, and a corn snake.
My beardy has a ton a personality, but my ball does get close. she has a much more calm personality, by staring at your face, or slithering out of her hide to be picked up when I open the cage. The corn snake has basically no personality, but hes the size of a pencil so I'll give him some time.

I have to say I am really enjoying interactions with my crested geckos. Though most of them are not particularly fond of being handled, my dalmation male is very interactive through his cage. He would perch on a branch or leaf overhanging his feeding bowl and when I walk by, he will look at me through the cage side, then turn back to stare into his empty bowl th an back at me, as though telling me 'my bowl is empty, do something about it'. I named him Snoopy, remember the old Peanuts cartoon where Snoopy would lay on his doghouse and stare down into his food bowl till Charlie Brown fed him.

He would also get my attention as I walk past by jumping on the side of the cage, which makes a notable thumping sound. Most times, I don't expect it and being naturally jumpy, welll, I jump and turn only to see him looking at me innocently with big black eyes (being at night, his pupils are very dilated). My other crested geckos are also very intentive at what I do and my two older females do enjoy a romp out of the cage once in awhile, usually by running up my arm, over my shoulders and perching on the top of my head.

I am also enjoying my blue tongue skinks (northern), they have sucn intelligent eyes it is almost creepy. It almost makes me feel they are actualy thinking as we do, or like a mythological dragon would.
