Jungle Carpet Behavior

muffin_princess Jan 11, 2006 12:50 PM

Last night our male JCP was introduced into our female and the reaction was so intriguing that my boyfriend and I turned the love seat around and watched them interact.

The male began exploring the enclosure rapping himself around the branches and basically looking for a way out. The female watched him with interest for about 3.5 seconds and then shot straight up at him and began to travel around the enclosure with him wrapping her body around him until he and she would fall over and then you would hear a “THUD”. The are both around 4 years old and close to ~7 feet long.

To me it looked like she was trying to dominate him as he explored for a way out, almost like she was “bulling” him all over the cage, although he did not seem to mind.

This behavior went on for about 2 hours, it was very interesting to see..

Has anyone ever seen this? Is this normal?

Sounds normal....but only if your female was actually a male. Are you positive she's a she?

I got in contract with the guy who sold them to me and he said they were sexed twice and he said the man who sexed them was a person whom he trusted and respected, so I guess my best bet is to have them sexed for myself to ensure.

They have calmed down now and are both sleeping/laying together, last night there was no "THUDS".

So we will wait and see....

I'd be curious....females don't usually run from males (in snakes, that is..) What you described is normal for 2 males. Would have been more violent with a female present.
