Ultimate Owner's Manual 2nd Edition

xris Jan 11, 2006 08:37 PM

I own the first edition. Is there anything in the 2nd edition to make it worth buying?

I have no idea, however, if you spent your $50 dollars on the first one, spending another for the second edition would be ridiculous. If the price is lower, I'd give it a shot.

Most likely, the 2nd edition contains more up-to-date dietary information, and health information.

Easiest thing to do is bring your own 1st ed. copy to the bookstore, and compare the two.

There will be other updates, but the 1st edition is already near-perfect, that the 2nd will just get into finer details the 1st might have missed (after all, it is now 10 years old or so, and still the best book on Iguana care).

Basically it is all up to the consumer:
-how successful are you or have u been with iguanas?
-how much do you actually know, and how much do you think you know?
-will the extra or updated info on the 2nd edition make that much of a difference for you?
-do you want to spend another $50 on a book which 80% or more is "old news"?

But because knowledge is power, and because iguanas are after all wild animals, every little bit of newly found and published information can help the novice or even the experienced owner.

I'd first check it out in person before buying it. However, I personally like Hatfield, and I am sure he has put together a great 2nd edition to his already fantastic book.

Yes, it does. I can't remember the exact price of the book, but I do remember it being fairly expensive, a lot more than $22.

The main difference is there are important medical black-and-white photos from internationally known veterinarian Scott Stahl, plus new photos in the color section. The 1st edition was $32.50 but they reduced the price of the 2nd to $22.95. But it is worth either price.
