mazuri pellets vs gel

SteveH Jan 11, 2006 09:11 PM

hello, i'm thinking about ordering mazuri croc diet and was wondering if pellets are better than the gel that you have to mix. is the gel more messy in the water? thanks, steve

Steve,

I am not quite sure about the gel, but I do use the pellets. I highly recommend the pellets for ease of use, however, if you dont have a HIGH quality filtration system...you are going to HATE this diet. It is really messy and fouls up the water quite a bit. However, for the animals benefit, it is well worth the trouble in my opinion of more frequent water changes. Are you planning on using the diet for crocs or your snappers? My American alligator will chow down on the larger pellets, but really doesnt pay much attention to the smaller pellets. My Dwarf caiman doesn't pay any attention to anything other than chicken. It's a great diet, I personally might try the gel sometime as well.

thanks Chris, i'll be feeding it to my smaller snappers although i am tempted to get a caiman this spring. i have do complete water changes in their tubs pretty often anyway. i was just curious how well the gel held up underwater.
