Very Ticked Off Snake?!

sCaLeSrFuN Jan 12, 2006 02:42 AM

Ok so I have a RTB and he is about 6 months or so, and lately within the past wk, he has become very aggitated. He has always been a love, and never struck at me up until about a wk ago.
He ate one of his mice, Np, then wouldn't eat his second. So I took it out for a day, tried again, Nothing. On Day 3, he kept striking at it, but kept missing ( he has never missed before). Now in his cage, There is the remainder of Mouse 1. I can't tell if he pooped it out, or threw it up. Now he strikes at me everytime I walk by the cage, and hisses really loudly for 20 mins at a time if i walk by to many times. Any ideas why hes Cranky? Could His lighting/temp/habitat have something to do with it, or is he just cranky? I don't think it's close to shed time, but could be, so thanks for any help i could get!

If he pooped it out, it wouldn;tlook like a rat anymore. It would look like poop. So, either he didn't eat it, or he vomited it out.

what are your temps (basking, warm end, and ambient)? What is in your cage setup? How long have you had him?

Maybe feeding two live at a time and messing with him for a couple of days led to a regurge. Wait a couple weeks before you attempt to feed. Make sure your temps are correct. Feed one rat or mouse at one time either freshly killed or frozen thawed. That might be stressing your boa out.

Hey Thanks Guys! My Temps are about 85 on his basking side and about 68-72 on his cool side. So I will try and wait a few weeks before feeding again and let him cool off lol! Thanks again! :-D

68 to 72 on his cool side is to low for a boa. You need to raise the temps to 80 to 85. I'm guessing that may be the reason he regurged.
A real good book on boa care is the boa constrictor manual. Please pick up a copy or at least check out some care sheets. Good luck.
