HELP WITH RED EARED SLIDER

ellie_sweetcakez Jan 12, 2006 01:26 PM

i have a red eared slider who used to stick his neck out of the water as far as he could when it came to feeding time..now he wont eat, iv looked at the other forums for answers and i thot maybe he was cold, but the thing is, is he sumtimes stays under the fake pond leaves that are on the top of the water..if he was cold wouldnt he stay on his rocks all day in the UV light? He appears fine, his shell isnt pealing..maybe he's constipated? would that cause him not to eat..bcuz there duznt appear to me much fecal matter in his tank now, but i assumed that wasa because he wasnt eating? How warm should the water be? I'v been feeding him pelets most of the time, thats what hes used to..he doesnt seem to want to eat much of anything else i put in the tank either..i feel bad for him
any suggestions would be appreciated thx!

Do you have a heat lamp for his basking area or just a flourescent uvb bulb?

What is you basking temperature. What is the water temperature?
