How Rare is a Complelty Striped BP

fgs Jan 12, 2006 01:32 PM

I have this adult normal female BP that has a complete stripe down its back.

I have a few other normals that have broken stripes but this is the only one I've ever seen with a complete stripe.

Would appreciate your comments.

Thanks

I'd say very rare. Most of mine are broken stripes. Nice snake!

The blushing/flames and the distinct 'alien heads' lead me to believe that your snake is genetic. Whether it's dominant or co-dominant or recessive is anyone's guess as of now.

Keep us posted on any breeding results. Thanks.

this one was being sold for 300$ but I got her in a trade I would say they are fairly rare about like granites .I dought they are genetic nothing has ever been proven to my knowledge.

I sold this male awhile back, wish I would have kept him.

Yeah that's a very nice looking striped male.

She has been with a couple of male pastels. I'll be hoping for the best.

Thanks

I'd keep her just to prove or disprove the genetics. And some pastel stripes would be nice eh?

This past year I had a clutch of albinos and hets, three of which have almost complete stripes and others with partial stripes.

Mike:

I was wondering if you had any photos of the striped albinos. I for one would love to see them.

Thanks

I don't have photos now, but I could take some and post them later.

Do you have to put the photos on KS photo gallery first, or can they go direct from my computer to the forum. I believe the only way I could post pics on a forum before was to put them on KS first, but to place a classified ad they would go direct from my computer to the ad. Also it looks like I can only select 3 photos from the gallery, how does everybody post more pictures?

Any help is appreciated, Mike

I hope these pictures work. Here are the two striped albinos I hatched this year. There is another albino and a het with a partial stripe.

Remember that bag you left at that dinner in daytona Sunday morning that had a wee bit of cash in it..... I picked that up and Tom took credit for it with you but I picked it up and brought it back.... I think you should send that albino my way....

Call with your price if need be....

Neil,
I have seen some of your posts, but I'm not sure we have met. Are you the one who is helping Tom now? We came back in the restaurant about the moment you guys were leaving. It was my wife's fault, I swear!!!

I know Harford Reptiles where I got my partial stripe female has a genetic line of them - full and partial stripes - the striping is apparently genetic - but not necessarily always in full stripe. They got some neat belly patterns on them too.

She's the one on top:

Here is an example of a stripe ball from a line that has been proven to be a genetic recessive trait. First bred by Bob Clark and VPI. Several breeders are now working with this line. They're are still getting big bucks for them!

Wouldn't it be awsome if this full stripe female is genetic. She is locked up with a male Butter 100% Het. Ghost. I think a striped Butter would be amazing!!!
