thoughts: personality of obsoleta compared to other colubrids?

the nerve Jul 25, 2003 12:54 AM

For those of you who keep obsoleta in addition to other colubrids... how do they compare to lets say, kingsnakes, milksnakes, or gopher snakes in personality? More active? Less active? More curious, alert, or interesting? I'm curious to how Pits, Elaphe, and Lampros compare to each other.

I personnally think that rat snakes, esspecially obsoletas, have better personalities than lampros. I don't have enough experiance with pits to make a comparison. Rat snakes seem to me to be more alert, active, and curious; they seem to be overall more "intellegent". Hope this helps.

Yeah, my black rat is definately very alert. She always knows when I'm around and I can rarely sneak up on her. She'll just freeze when I'm around. But when I'm not around, she cruises around her cage all night. Sometimes I can catch her climbing around without her noticing me. I'm glad I got this snake and not a ball python or something boring like that.
