palpating gravid females

bpconnection Jan 12, 2006 05:47 PM

Any thoughts on palpating to check growth and all?
I haven't been doing it, but oooohhh I want to...
I always make it a point to handle all my snakes for a while every day (except after feeding). I haven't been handling the gravid female. Is that a good thing or does it not really effect the eggs?
Thanks.
Jeremy

Isn't it cooler that serpent's don't walk anymore?

I will feel for follicles a few times during breeding season but when I do feel them, I make a note of it and that's the last time. I will continue to introduce the male until ovulation and I really don't handle the females during the breeding season. Some females will do fine with the handling and some may not, I just don't take the chance. Also I think that too much handling can affect the developing follicles.
