3/8 Inch Hardware Cloth

Herpout Jan 12, 2006 07:22 PM

Does any body know where I can find/buy 3/8 Inch hardware cloth? I'm finding a lot of 1/4 but thats too small for rats to eat through and 1/2 lets baby mice craw out.
Thanks Jesse

could have sworn I saw some at home depot, but obviously your asking on here because you couldn't find it at home depot/lowes?? What about ummm, oh yeah, do you have and farm supply stores in your area?? might actually make hardware cloth for feeding small farm animals, sounded like a good suggestion, might not turn out to be! lol

Bass Equipment online sells all sorts of welded wire cloth, the rabbit hutch company not the beer. I got them confused once.
I don't know there product line but they are worth a shot.

Valentine equipment sells 1/3" that is basically identical to 3/8". The minimum order is small but I can tell you from experience that you'll have no trouble selling any excess. Depending on how much you use you may even break even on the whole deal.

Do you know if they have a web site? or how to get in contact with them?
Thanks Jesse

No problem. However, I made a mistake in my first post. I said the minimum order is small when I meant to say large. Sorry about that.

1/4" works fine. I have drop in feeders for all my rat boxes and they are all made of 1/4". It works great for the different types of feed I use from the Lab Block to Good Day Cat & Dog food. The food won't slip through and the rats actually have to work for what they eat, less time to figure ways of escaping or chewing their homes as well. Works great for me.
