would it be better to use a Thermostat to control the heat of a UTH or one of those light dimmer things that i can attach to turn down the heat if its to hot..? im not normmally home during the day im at school so what would be better...

Thermomstats will regulate the heat better, you just get it set to the temp you need and it takes care of it. With a dimmer switch or rheostat you will get fluctuations as the room temperature raises and lowers, you do have to check them periodically. I have both and definately prefer the thermostats and will eventually have them on all my tanks.
